This 474-room hotel features 37,000 square feet of meeting space, 31 suites, and a scenic garden terrace ideal for weddings. Its central location offers walking access to the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Catalina Express, and is just two miles from the Queen Mary.

Overview

The Banquet Server is responsible for setting up and serving food and beverages at banquet functions according to hotel standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform preparatory tasks and side work to ensure prompt and efficient service.
  2. Read the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and familiarize with the menu for each function.
  3. Serve guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner according to hotel standards.
  4. Address guest concerns, complaints, and accidents, communicating with management as needed.
  5. Set all tables according to hotel standards.
  6. Maintain a neat and stocked banquet storeroom with necessary supplies.
  7. Clean and reset banquet space after events, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored properly.
  8. Prepare rooms in accordance with BEO and meal functions.
  9. Follow all money handling procedures during service.
  10. Know menu items and provide accurate descriptions to guests.
  11. Ensure guest satisfaction throughout the event.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  13. This is an on-call position.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred; hotel or related experience is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work long hours as needed.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 20 pounds frequently or constantly.
  • Ability to stand throughout the shift.
  • Effective listening, understanding, and clarification skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach with guests and colleagues.
  • Problem-solving skills, including anticipating and addressing issues proactively.
  • Initiative to anticipate guest and operational needs.
