Join to apply for the On Call Archaeologist Technician III role at WSP in the U.S.

Job Description

WSP is currently seeking On-call Archaeologist Field Technicians in Oregon and Washington, with potential extension to surrounding states. This is a temporary, part-time position.

Your Impact

  • Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering.
  • Assist with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, and site form preparation.
  • Maintain a commitment to staying current with cultural resources management, local, state, and Section 106 regulations and planning practices.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental planning, permitting, environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance related to transportation, energy, zoning, and tribal or federal land activities.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and familiarity with prehistoric and/or historic archaeology.
  • Understanding of public and private sector requirements for cultural resources surveys.
  • Ability to travel and work outside regular hours as needed.
  • Proficiency with GPS data collection.
  • Organizational skills, multi-tasking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Basic proficiency with office software and technology.
  • Ability to perform pedestrian surveys, carry up to 25 lbs., and survey in various weather conditions.
  • Experience with archaeological materials identification and analysis.
  • Willingness to travel for up to 8-day rotations.
  • Ability to pass a Fit for Duty Exam and WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S./M.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
  • Experience in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Experience with ArcGIS or AGOL software.
  • Knowledge of Section 106 regulations and local environmental laws.
  • Progress toward listing on federal and state cultural resource permits in Oregon and Washington.

Compensation

Expected salary range: $30.68 - $43.90 per hour, based on experience and location.
