Job Summary

Langan is seeking On Call Archaeological/Cultural Resource Technicians of varying experience levels to join its collaborative team in the Northeast. These individuals will support environmental and cultural resource project managers in conducting field and desktop tasks. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals across various geographic areas and regulatory programs. You will collaborate and learn from our multidisciplinary team of cultural resource, biology, site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architecture professionals on a wide range of projects. Langan is committed to providing opportunities for technicians of all levels to gain experience and expand their skill set.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Conduct cultural resource pedestrian surveys;
  2. Conduct background research at historical societies, museums, archives, and repositories;
  3. Perform cultural resource recordation and documentation;
  4. Conduct subsurface absence/presence testing;
  5. Conduct data recovery excavations;
  6. Perform construction monitoring to ensure compliance with agency mitigation measures and proper treatment of cultural resources;
  7. Conduct records searches at CHRIS information Centers;
  8. Conduct laboratory analysis, catalog, and organize cultural resource artifacts;
  9. Prepare technical report sections;
  10. Complete work logs accurately and promptly;
  11. Assemble and maintain field equipment, inspect, and troubleshoot as necessary;
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field. High school diploma or equivalent considered based on experience and skills;
  • Understanding of and practical experience with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and related regulations preferred;
  • Hazwoper Certification and annual physical and respirator fit tests preferred;
  • 3+ years’ related experience preferred;
  • Familiarity with GIS and AutoCAD preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe, Nuance, Word, and SharePoint preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in teams;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing;
  • Ability to travel and work on-site, sometimes in rugged terrain and inclement weather;
  • Capable of physical labor and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.
