Job summary

The James Clinic in Ankeny, IA seeks an OMT Physician Support Specialist to work closely with the Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment physician and patients, ensuring a smooth check‑in, informed visits, and seamless transitions between appointments.

You will greet patients, activate records, guide them through the schedule, and assist with scribing, billing questions, and product inquiries, while maintaining a clean, efficient clinic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous clinic or wellness center experience preferred.
• Punctual and reliable with consistent attendance.
• Positive and kind demeanor with strong patient interaction.
• Basic office skills: typing and use of computer/phone systems.
• Good organizational skills.
• Minimal travel to Chariton, IA clinic up to 3x per month.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person and by phone, answering inquiries or directing questions.

• Schedule appointments to optimize provider time and equipment use.

We are looking for an OMT Physician Support Specialist to work 1 on 1 with our Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment physician and his patients to provide a smooth patient experience while also supporting his day to day work. This role will greet patients, activate patient information, and move patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments at the office. This role is responsible for following a patient through to the end of their visit, offering information about their appointment, check in, check out, and possible sales.

What You'll Do

• · Welcomes patients and visitors to The James Clinic by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
• · Walks patients to the appropriate patient room.
• · Makes personal connection with patients arriving in Clinic and offers them guidance and understanding of their appointment for that day.
• · Follows protocol for the provider to get appropriate vitals for each patient.
• · Assist and Scribe for providers as needed.
• · Documents in patient charts
• · Sterilizing medical instruments and maintaining clean exam rooms
• · Works to clean patient rooms for the next appointment.
• · Schedules appointments for the Clinic to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use the equipment and services offered.
• · Ensure the daily schedule is up to date for the day.
• · Accesses patient data to verify electronic completion, obtains any required new patient record forms if not yet completed.
• · Endeavors to keep patients on schedule with quick turnover and inform them of any service delays.
• · Assists as needed with inventory management of all necessary office supplies for the OMT DO.
• · Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of support and assistance to coworkers, leaders, and patients.
• · Assist patients with sales, scheduling, product, or billing questions.
• · Provides back up to front desk staff for time off.
• · Participates in The James Clinic emergency routine when required. Summons ambulance or EMS or assists other staff members as needed.

Clinic hours

Monday-Friday: 8-5

We can be flexible in scheduling, but consistent attendance is non-negotiable.
