Job summary

Soma is seeking a detail-oriented Merchandise Planner to translate the Merchants’ vision into viable, profitable plans across Omni channels. You will forecast demand, develop seasonal plans, and manage inventory to maximize sales and margin while maintaining alignment with financial targets.

The role requires 4+ years in retail planning, strong Excel skills, and the ability to partner across teams including Merchants, Allocation, and Store operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, operations, or business preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, allocation or replenishment.
• 3 years of retail experience in merchandising/buying or allocation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; aptitude with numbers; retail forecasting knowledge.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to convey complex info clearly.

Responsibilities

• Partners with Merchants on the development of pre-season sales, markdown, margin, receipt and inventory.
• Develops projections and inventory flow for key items/collections.
• Provides analysis related to driving business goals (e.g., hindsight, color-selling).
• Forecasts monthly and seasonal plans to ensure orders meet financial targets.
• Analyzes performance against strategy using sales and trend data.
• Participates in Merchandise Review meetings (MBR) and seasonal hindsight.
• Collaborates with Merchants to propose tactics in response to trends; supports promotional and liquidation strategies.
• Works across cross-functional teams to use seasonal selling curves by region, climate, and store attributes.
