About CSI

Our story begins in Omaha in 1892, when, due to epidemics, poverty and the difficulties of pioneer life, many children were left in need of parental care. CSI met the need in a revolutionary way – putting the well-being of children first and working to be a voice for the voiceless. We seek to champion children and families by providing the mental, emotional and physical spaces they need to feel empowered and to thrive.

We are looking for someone who has a mind full of wonder and a heart-filled desire to work with little humans! We’re on a mission to champion what’s best for each child and family.

As a Youth Care Specialist in our Shelter in Omaha, you will provide a safe, therapeutic, and learning environment for children and youth ages 12-19. You will provide direct supervision of youth within required program structure and ensure they are having their needs met while they are navigating the challenges at‑risk youth endure.

Adhere to contractual requirements. Provide medication management according to program procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships by treating youth with respect, providing positive feedback, and displaying empathy.
  • Identify and use opportunities for teaching life skills in everyday activities.
  • Effectively communicate written information (client files, medication logs, pass reports, caseworker calls, etc.) throughout shift to establish and maintain an accurate record of each child’s placement. Maintain accurate records needed by agency (incident reports or restraint reports, etc.)
  • Promote a professional, positive work environment by reporting to shifts, trainings, and meetings on time, following agency protocols, and being flexible to meet client and program needs.
  • Handle crisis using CPI and other techniques in a way that positive therapeutic relationships are maintained.
  • Implement agency Policies and Procedures, licensing, and accreditation standards, and maintain a clean and aesthetic environment.
