Job summary

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) in New York City seeks an Oilers to lubricate and maintain power plant and building equipment, including pumps, engines, and related machinery. You will read meters, keep logs, and assist with maintenance tasks across DCAS facilities.

Under supervision, you’ll perform routine mechanical upkeep, ensure energy safety compliance, and support critical city operations in various public buildings. Residency requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time experience in lubrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment.
• One-and-a-half years plus graduation from an approved trade/technical/high school or internship.
• One year of experience plus an associate degree in mechanical technology.

Responsibilities

• Lubricate and clean pumps, engines, blowers, and other equipment; assist in operation and repair.
• Read meters and gauges; keep logs; perform lubrication inventory control.
• May operate a motor vehicle; work in noisy, confined, or dusty areas; follow safety rules.

Education

Trade/technical/high school diploma or equivalent

Associates degree in mechanical technology

Approved internship program completion
