Job summary

The City of New York Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges seeks an Oiler to support lubrication and basic maintenance of pumps, motors and related equipment at the BQR Oilers' Shop in Queens. Duties include reading meters, keeping logs, and assisting in operations, with potential night shifts. Minimum qualifications require several years in lubrication and maintenance, with trade school or associate degree as options.

Residency rules apply. Hours are 40 per week, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in lubrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment.
• Graduation from an approved trade, technical, or vocational high school or completion of an approved internship program; or
• One year of experience plus an associate degree in mechanical technology.

Responsibilities

• Lubricate and clean pumps, compressors, motors, gears, ejectors and other operation equipment.
• Read meters and gauges; assist in operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Keep logs and maintain lubricant inventory; may work night shift.
