Job summary

Whitley Penn, one of the nation’s leading audit, tax, and advisory firms, seeks an Assistant Controller to join our team in Dallas. The role collaborates with the Energy Practice leader to design tools and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting clients and oversees the Oil & Gas Accounting group operations.

Ideal candidates have extensive Upstream/E&P accounting experience, strong management skills, and a track record of developing associates and driving new business.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oil & Gas Upstream accounting experience.
• Experience setting up accounting functions and implementation.
• Proficiency with OGsys or WolfePak software.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ability to research and apply theory.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, systems and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting.
• Oversee operations of Oil & Gas Accounting group and supervise associates.
• Set up and implement accounting functions/processes for O&G Upstream.
• Prepare client service plans and manage client relationships and budgets.
• Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure compliance with standards.
• Contribute to firm policy and process improvements.
