Job summary

Gulf Island LLC is seeking an Offshore Combo Welder in Houma, LA to perform structural and pipe welding on offshore drilling decks, adhering to AWS D1.1 and API 1104 standards. This role requires 2+ years of experience, a TWIC card, and the ability to pass welding tests in a challenging offshore environment.

Work is offshore in the Gulf of America and includes safety-critical tasks, equipment handling, and collaboration with rigging and QA procedures.

Qualifications

• Must pass a practical welding test: WPS 362 6GR SMAW and WPS 419 6G SMAW
• 2+ years experience in Structural and Pipe Welding
• Ability to operate diesel welding machines and trouble shoot
• Willing to assist with non-welding duties, like Rigging
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• TWIC card
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must pass a background check

Responsibilities

• Set and operate welding machine for applicable welding processes
• Perform welding processes assigned for structural, pipe, and welding projects
• Pass required welding test per AWS D1.1 latest edition, ASME section IX, and API 1104
• Maintain quality of welding that can pass NDT testing procedures
• Perform welding assignments safely and efficiently, always practicing safety
• Operate appropriate hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc.)
• Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, and other alloys
• Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or any thickness of metals
