Job summary

Hornbeck Offshore is seeking a Second Assistant Engineer for offshore vessel operations. The role focuses on managing, maintaining, and operating shipboard engineering systems and ensuring adherence to SMS, Company policies, and safety standards.

The candidate will serve as Officer in Charge of the Engineering Watch (OICEW), supervise engineering staff, coordinate with shore support, and uphold environmental protection requirements while supporting charterer and crew safety during complex

Qualifications

Possess all valid flag state (and coastal state where applicable) credentials for second engineer.
Valid riggers certificate from a recognized authority.
Passport is highly preferred.
Ability to read and write English and respond to commands in English.
Minimum one year experience on DP-2 class vessels in a role not lower than Assistant Engineer.

Responsibilities

Implement safety and environmental protection policies and communicate orders clearly.
Maintain and operate shipboard engineering systems as directed by Master and Chief Engineer.
Serve as OICEW and ensure safe vessel operation within applicable laws.
Manage engineering crew, vendors, and sub-contractors per company policies.
Coordinate with flag state, port state officials, clients, and shore support for safe operations.
