Job summary

W&T Offshore, Inc. in Theodore, AL is looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to coordinate health and safety measures across engineering, construction, regulatory, drilling, and production teams.

You will lead local safety initiatives, conduct orientations, and manage safety documentation in the field. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a safety field, 3+ years offshore experience, and strong communication and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field or similar preferred.
• 3+ years offshore oil and gas industry experience preferred; familiar with OSHA/PSC/EPA/EID/MMA compliance.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat; very proficient in Excel with database experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as member of the local leadership team and HSE focal point for operations.
• Facilitate daily safety meetings and document discussions.
• Conduct plant safety orientations and review safety paperwork.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and prepare corrective actions.
• Lead HAZOP activities and pipeline safety audits; manage SDS and HAZCOM.
• Mentor field personnel on safety practices and regulatory compliance.
• Visit offshore platforms for inspections and ensure proper training.
• Support drug and alcohol programs and maintain safety equipment.
