Job summary

W&T Offshore, Inc. in Theodore, AL, is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support air, water and waste compliance for onshore facilities and nearby offshore operations.

The role reports to Environmental Manager and collaborates with engineering, construction, regulatory, drilling and production teams at OTF and Mobile Bay. Expect a bachelor's in environmental science or engineering, 2–4 years of regulatory experience in oil and gas, and strong communication and data-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering preferred
• Certificates or licenses in specialized environmental areas helpful
• 2–4 years of experience with environmental regulations relating to oil and gas, including EPA and ADEM
• Knowledge of federal environmental regulations
• Strong organization and multi-tasking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and produce results

Responsibilities

• Serve as local environmental expert for OTF and Mobile Bay assets
• Be the focal point for agency correspondence for environmental permits and plans
• Manage compliance for Clean Air and Clean Water acts, RCRA, CERCLA and EPCRA
• Ensure environmental reports are completed and submitted to corporate personnel and agencies
• Gather data for new permit and renewal applications, report deviations and notices of violations
• Monitor compliance with regulations through discharge monitoring reports and other documents
• Assist in planning for compliance with regulations for new or modified operations
• Conduct training for operating personnel to meet regulatory needs
• Lead site-level environmental audits and compliance
