Job summary

Centerline Logistics is seeking a Deckhand to maintain vessel readiness and perform work as directed by the Captain or Mate. Responsibilities include tying tows, handling lines, and assisting engineers during maintenance on tugs and barges.

Applicants should hold a valid USCG MMC and related endorsements, with training in VPDSD, Tankerman, and HAZWOPER. Strong English communication and the ability to work in confined crew quarters are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) at the time of hire.
• Basic Training (VI/1) and Security Awareness (VI/6) endorsements required at hire.
• VPDSD (VI/6-2) endorsements must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Tankerman PIC Endorsement required within six months of hire.
• First aid/CPR certification is required.
• HAZWOPER training to be completed within 90 days of hire.
• TWIC card must be valid.
• Valid state driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Deck must be cleaned and kept free of lines.
• Make up all tows as directed by Captain or Mate.
• Carry out knot tying, line/wire splicing, and handling heaving lines.
• Perform lubrication and barge tow tie-off duties.
• Operate radio, assist tug steering and fuel operations.
• General deck and galley duties, loading supplies, and cleanup.
