Job summary

Caltrans is seeking an Office Technician in San Joaquin County to provide administrative support to Region Maintenance staff and assist with the hiring process by scheduling interviews.

The role includes coordinating interviews, maintaining payroll and pay warrants, and collaborating with maintenance managers and staff to ensure accurate and timely work products. Telework may be available at Caltrans’ discretion.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications and must obtain a valid typing certificate prior to hire.
  • Experience with payroll and pay warrant distribution is preferred.
  • Ability to schedule interviews and work with hiring managers and applicants in a professional manner.

Job Description And Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Office Technician provides administrative support to the Region Maintenance staff. Also provides clerical support within maintenance support as it pertains to the hiring process by scheduling and preparing for interviews. The OT works closely with maintenance managers, superintendents, supervisors, and maintenance support staff to ensure accurate payroll, pay warrant distribution and interviews are scheduled in a timely manner. The OT is required to maintain professional, courteous behavior and with the public and all Caltrans employees, to provide thorough and accurate work products, and demonstrate flexibility, and teamwork.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
