Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington is seeking a Campus Child Care Support role to help manage day-to-day operations in the on-campus Child Care Center. The position oversees the food service program, attendance records, meal counts for CACFP, and monthly reporting while supporting licensing inspections and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the center's food service program including maintaining menus, ordering food, preparing and cleaning up light breakfasts and snacks, coordinating lunch ordering, and ensuring children have all the required meals and snacks throughout the day as required by state licensing, completes all required paperwork for the CACFP.
  • Supervises lunch preparation and cleanup; compiles daily attendance records and meal counts for monthly reports; submits monthly reports to CACFP.
  • Assists during inspections by inspectors and licensing agents and keeps up with regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains professional manners when working with staff, parents, children, and the public.
  • Provides a variety of support services to Campus Children Center and the director including information to parents of prospective enrollers and assisting with waiting lists and enrollment records.
  • Coordinates monthly billings and documentation of parent fees, deposits, and fee receipts.
  • Completes and submits forms for tuition assistance with programs and funding agents.
  • Answers the phone and covers front-office duties.
  • Prepares payroll documents for hourly employees and handles staff scheduling in the director’s absence.
  • Maintains files for all children and staff in the program.
  • Serves as a resource in the absence of the director.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work.

Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Leads the center's food service program including maintaining menus, ordering food, preparing and cleaning up light breakfasts and snacks, coordinating lunch ordering, and ensuring children have all the required meals and snacks throughout the day as required by state licensing, completes all required paperwork for the federal food program Child and Adult Care Food Program¿ (CACFP).
  • Supervises lunch preparation and cleanup; compiles daily attendance records and meal counts for monthly reports; completes and submits monthly reports to the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Assists as needed during visits by all inspectors and licensing agents, i.e. State Fire Marshall, Federal Food Program, Welfare Department, and state and local health departments keeps abreast of changes in rules and regulations and provides assistance in assuring compliance.
  • Maintains professional manners when working with staff, parents, children, and the public.
  • Provides a variety of support services to Campus Children Center and the director including providing information to parents of prospective enrollers when director is unavailable; assists with maintaining the preschool's waiting list and enrollment records; records and informs the director of any changes.
  • Coordinates and provides information for monthly billings and documentation of parent fees, makes deposits and issues fee receipts.
  • Completes and submits forms for tuition assistance with programs with city, county, state, or university funding agents for parents participating in these assistance programs.
  • Answers the phone.
  • Prepares payroll documents for hourly employees
  • Handles staff scheduling in the absence of the director.
  • Maintains files for all children and staff in the program.
  • Serves as a major resource person in the absence of the director.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
General Responsibilities
  • Assists with office production and determining alternative methods to improve workflow and efficiencies.
  • Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail, answers correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
  • Compiles, copies, sorts, and files records of office activities.
  • Monitors the use of office supplies and equipment, and reorders items as required.
  • Completes and mails bills, contracts, policies, invoices, and checks.
  • Answers phones, directs calls, and takes messages for the office.
EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Some experience in related field.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
