Posting Information:

We are currently hiring a Office Professional-II (Receptionist) to join our team at Shelton High School beginning of the 2026-2027 school year. Open until filled. For best consideration, qualified candidates should apply no later than October 5th, 2026.

Interview Process:

Applicants are encouraged to apply by the deadline provided above. If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interview at a date to be determined.

Schedule:

8 hours per day; 219 days per year (inclusive of 10 paid holidays); M-F;

Salary:

$27.47 - $32.14 per hour, depending on experience. Salary Range is Based On the 26/27 SEOP Salary Schedule.

FLSA Status:

Non-Exempt (overtime eligible)

Overview:

The Office Professional (Level II) position provides essential clerical and administrative support to help implement the School District's Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans. This role independently manages schoolwide office functions to ensure efficient operations, clear communication, and a welcoming, professional environment. Serving as a key point of contact for students, staff, families, and the public, the Office Professional supports positive public relations and maintains organized, accurate, and responsive office services that contribute to the overall educational process.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background check
  • Experience working within schools is preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating standard office equipment, including PC computers, printers, copiers, scanners, multi-line phone systems, and fax machines
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Docs, and able to quickly learn additional software programs necessary for the position for workload efficiency
  • Strong customer service orientation when assisting students, families, staff, and community members
  • Ability to accurately enter, retrieve, and maintain data in electronic systems
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, including clear and professional written communication with correct grammar, punctuation, and formatting, as well as confident and articulate verbal communication
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic math including performing operations involving monetary units
