The position is 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, temporary for the remainder of the school year with potential extension based on enrollment and funding. Requires bilingual Spanish/English skills and a valid WA driver’s license.

We are currently hiring a Para Tech - Bilingual Family Support Liaison for Shelton High School. This position will remain open until filled. For best consideration, applicants should apply by 10/2/2026.

Interview Process

Schedule

8 hours per day; M-F. This position is temporary for the remainder of the 26/27 school year, but may be extended into future school years based on student enrollment, funding, and program need.

$27.31 - $30.52 per hour, depending on experience.

FLSA Status

Non-Exempt (overtime eligible)

Overview

The Para Tech - Bilingual Family Support Liaison at Shelton High School supports the Shelton School District's Strategic Plan by strengthening connections among families, students, and school staff. This position promotes meaningful home-parent-school-community partnerships that enhance communication, engagement, and access to resources, ultimately supporting student success.

Minimum Requirements
  • Completed two (2) years (72 quarter credits) of study at an institution of higher learning OR AA degree from an approved institution, OR completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a Federal criminal background check.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle for conducting home visits.
  • Ability to be sensitive to the needs and families of students being served.
  • Knowledge of community agencies and services.
  • Willingness to attend in-service workshops to receive specific training in needed areas.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates high energy and professionalism.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

Essential Functions
  • Serves as a liaison between the school district and the home for identified students, including tracking of academic progress in school, establishing home-school communication, and assisting parents in school processes and systems.
  • Assist with the dissemination of information to the home regarding school programs and services that may benefit the student and family.
  • Develop and implement parent involvement and participation activities and events.
  • Design and conduct after school tutoring program for at-risk students.
  • Become acquainted with local businesses and government agencies to determine how the community can best assist the school and to be able to make appropriate referrals for students and families.
  • Conduct home visits, as appropriate, to assist students and families with their school adjustment.
  • Take referrals from administrators, teachers, parents and community organizations on the Title I/LAP student needs, which involves communication with the home.
  • Create activities which encourage and foster the strengthening of family relationships and of the home-school connection.
  • Attend meetings for students, where appropriate, to address issues which positively impact student performance.
  • Support and work with family programs already existing in schools.
  • Assist students and families in successful transition between schools
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
