The Office Manager coordinates the administrative and communication processes of our congregational life, serving as the initial point-of-contact for visitors, phone calls, and member inquiries. This position focuses on planning, creating, and disseminating a variety of communications to internal and external audiences to ensure all stakeholders understand and can participate in what is happening in the life of our church. It also manages the operations and use of our buildings by both ACC members and outside guests. This is a part-time role anticipated to average 25 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement communication strategies for disseminating information throughout the congregation and to external audiences.
  • Manage the church’s website, social media accounts, and internal communication tools (newsletter, bulletins, etc.).
  • Respond to phone calls and visitors during regular business hours (currently Monday-Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm).
  • Schedule building use with ACC members and external groups.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors such as cleaning companies and IT firms working on church premises.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and manage office volunteers as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and relevant church committee meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Compensation includes a competitive wage (at least $20 per hour, potentially higher based on experience), two weeks of paid time off annually, and access to retirement and financial products via the denomination’s Pension Fund.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Possess a college degree or demonstrated experience in communication and administrative roles within a nonprofit, church, or similar setting.
  • Have basic graphic design skills or understanding.
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in a faith-based organization, appreciating relational leadership, volunteer coordination, consensus decision-making, and core values.
  • Share or be willing to develop a commitment to the work and witness of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). More info at www.disciples.org.
