The Office cashier supervises cashiers and controls cash, coupons, food stamps, and other forms of customer payment. They assist in managing absenteeism, maximizing production, and maintaining organization and cleanliness at the front end. The office cashier also trains cashiers and office personnel, and is responsible for balancing and securing all customer receipts. They perform all front-end and clerical functions, ensuring the security and proper administration of cash office funds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate the front end efficiently.
- Complete daily cash and sales reports, and weekly summaries.
- Handle cash in the cash drawer and safe securely.
- Issue, collect, and verify cash tills from cashiers.
- Prepare deposits, record data accurately, and notify the manager when deposits are ready for bank transfer. Report any deposits not made for the day to the corporate office immediately.
- Answer, screen, and route telephone calls appropriately.
- Inform the manager in charge and the General Store Manager of situations requiring disciplinary action.
- Verify invoices and ensure totals are correct in both cost and retail.
- Maintain accurate monthly records and reports in a timely manner.
- Assist in training new and existing associates.
- Provide high standards of customer service to promote goodwill.
- Assist customers with returns, over-rings, and overcharges.
- Handle cash pickups as per company policy.
- Enforce store policies related to front-end operations and stay observant.
- Possess a working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, maturity, and leadership abilities.
- Work a maximum of 10 hours per day and a minimum of 8 hours, including travel to and from work.
- Give verbal and written instructions clearly.
- Be detail-oriented with training capabilities.
- Read, write, and perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Operate cash registers, checkout belts, intercoms, phones, and other equipment such as safes and credit card machines.
- Provide proper change to customers and cashiers.
- Manage and balance receipts within prescribed limits.
- Perform cleaning duties around the work area.
- Stock shelves and racks with candy and other products.
- Assign duties and give directions to cashiers.
- Reach and stock products up to 6 feet high.
- Cash checks, set up, operate, and reconcile tills.
- Authorize credits, refunds, and over-rings for cashiers as outlined.
- Maintain product display areas daily, including baskets and dump bins.
