Overview

Office Assistant II – $18.34 per hour, full‑time. The position is responsible for general secretarial duties, prepares basic reports, maintains computerized files, and performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enter and update data using spreadsheet or database applications.
  • Type moderately complex letters and memos using a personal computer.
  • Prepare invoices, logs, payments, deposits, and other financial transactions; maintain department work orders, requests, and tickets.
  • Answer telephone calls, route calls, and take messages with discretion.
  • Maintain department calendars; assist with events, projects, or programs; maintain statistics or databases and develop reports.
  • Maintain various types of files; access and file confidential information.
  • Open and distribute mail; make copies; prepare packets and distribute information or products; maintain office supplies.
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding the department or work.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
  • At least two years of general office experience, including at least one year of administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license, motor‑vehicle liability insurance, and personal‑injury insurance, or a self‑reliant source of transportation to conduct daily business.
  • Successful completion of a favorable background investigation and clearance, a pre‑employment physical, and a pre‑employment drug‑screen test.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours during the workweek if required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Infor/Lawson and/or SAP.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment.
  • Strong data‑entry skills and the ability to file information accurately.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, county employees, and the public.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
  • Constant indoor work; occasional movement of items weighing 10–15 pounds.
  • Frequent communication with others and continuous computer use.
  • Essential functions performed in a stationary position.
