Responsibilities

  • Answer phones professionally and route calls.
  • Take and distribute messages; manage mail.
  • Assist Office Manager with attendance records.
  • Translate for teachers, parents, counselors if bilingual.
  • Create and organize student files; maintain cum files.
  • Supervise lunch and recess.
  • Distribute flyers and assist with parent meetings.
  • Provide general clerical support and documentation.

Organization OverviewPartnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools. We uplift and revitalize communities through the success of our students and through inspiring them to uplift our communities now and forever and through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.The Team Member we are searching forThe ideal Office Assistant believes in, and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. The Office Assistant is responsible for greeting and assisting parents, students, and visitors at the school in a friendly and professional manner as well as providing excellent customer service.What you’ll need to accomplish:Answer phones using a professional and courteous manner and route calls appropriatelyTake messages and distribute it in a timely mannerSort and distribute mailReply to general information requests with accurate informationAssist Office Manager with proper documentation and accuracy of student attendanceFax, make copies, and assist with typing and composes correspondence lettersMake phone calls to parentsAssist with collecting lunch countFlyer distributionSupervise during lunch and recess (policy & procedures)Assist with the preparation of parent meetingsTranslate for teachers, parents, and counselors (if bilingual)Create students’ files and organize students’ cumulative files (CUM)Perform other duties as assignedWhat do we require from you?Minimum QualificationsEducation:Enrolled in college or possesses a BA/BS degree preferredExperience:Prior experience working with students in a learning environment preferredSkills and AbilitiesProficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticityMust be flexible and team-orientedAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentBilingual in Spanish preferredStrong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of workRegular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this positionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below.
