Organization Overview

Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is a non‑profit network of public charter schools focused on increasing high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North‑East Los Angeles and the North‑East San Fernando Valley. Our mission is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities, creating school programs and cultures that promote college graduation for all students and uplift our communities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare and supervise after‑school activities.
  • Implement the program curriculum to ensure student growth for intervention and enrichment.
  • Supervise individuals and groups of students in and outside the classroom.
  • Foster and nurture a learning environment for all.
  • Facilitate small group instruction and one‑on‑one homework support as identified by the Coordinator or Administrator.
  • Implement enrichment activities such as clubs and sports.
  • Prepare instructional, display, and work materials, including cleaning and preparing the room before, during, and after the program.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering snacks to the students as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records such as attendance, time sheets, incident reports, and others as assigned by the Coordinator or Administrator.
  • Report all student and parent concerns to the Coordinator or Administrator.
  • Redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to monitor and guide proper student behavior.
  • Participate in professional development training, as necessary.
  • Establish good relations with individual students and groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. Must bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach at or below shoulder level. Always required to wear appropriate safety equipment (gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.).

Qualifications
  • Education: AA or higher preferred; High School degree or GED required.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students in a learning environment, or an education student working toward a teaching credential.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); excellent verbal and written communication; alignment with core characteristics: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, authenticity; flexible and team‑oriented; able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment; bilingual in Spanish preferred; strong work ethic, accountability, ownership of work; regular attendance, dependability, punctuality.
