Job summary

The Aurora Housing Authority in Aurora, CO is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support Assisted Housing staff, manage filing, and back up the Receptionist. You will handle applicant inquiries, process paperwork, and maintain on-site and off-site filing systems.

Ideal candidates have solid knowledge of HUD regulations, strong written and verbal communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access. The role emphasizes customer service and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to remain respectful and solutions oriented at all times
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and the general public
  • Up to three (3) months on-the-job training to perform the job effectively
  • Equipment requiring involved set up, adjustments and operational procedures (e.g. word processing equipment, personal computer, scanners, letter folding machine, and digital copier/printer)
  • Standard office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access)

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and program information to applicants in person and over the phone including assistance with completing forms.
  • Responds to applicant and participant inquiries and works to resolve concerns regarding program services.
  • Performs admin assistant functions including filing, faxing and copying.
  • Assists in the preparation and tracking of applicant and participant paperwork.
  • Relieves the Receptionist for breaks, lunch, and as needed.
  • Maintains department on site and off site filing system.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail.

Performs a broad range of administrative tasks in support of the Assisted Housing Staff. Provides back up coverage to the Receptionist. Maintains overall filing system for Department. Assists staff with filing.

Knowledge/Skills and Experience

Additional Information

Applicants: Please be advised that the starting pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22/hour, depending on experience.
