Qualifications

We are seeking a Marine Assembly Technician to install the plumbing and electrical systems that go into our hulls before the deck and liner are bonded.

Job Summary:

This role installs rough plumbing and electrical systems in open hulls and liners prior to bonding. Because these systems become permanently inaccessible once the boat is closed up, the work must be correct, routed properly, secured, labeled, and verified the first time. The ideal candidate takes pride in work nobody will ever see again and understands that an extra ten minutes now saves a hundred hours later.

Responsibilities:

Rough Plumbing:

• Install and route plumbing for livewells, baitwells, fishboxes, washdowns, sanitation, and bilge systems.
• Install thru-hulls, seacocks, scuppers, drains, and overboard discharges with proper backing, bedding, and sealant.
• Install pumps, strainers, valves, and manifolds with attention to serviceability and flow.
• Run, cut, and secure hose and tubing with correct type, radius, support spacing, and double clamping where required.
• Install fuel system components and fuel hose to specification, including fill, vent, and supply runs.
• Pressure test and leak check systems before the hull is closed.

Rough Electrical:

• Run and route wiring harnesses, battery cable, and grounding/bonding systems through the hull and liner.
• Install conduit, chases, and pull strings to preserve future access for rigging and service.
• Terminate, crimp, heat shrink, and label connections to marine standard.
• Install switch panels, bus bars, battery switches, fuse and breaker panels, and terminal blocks.
• Support and secure all runs at proper intervals, with chafe protection at every pass-through.
• Continuity test and verify circuits before bonding.

Bonding and Verification:

• Prep bonding surfaces, mix and apply adhesives, and assist with mating hull, liner, and deck.
• Install structural components, stringers hardware, tanks, and backing plates as required before close-up.
• Complete the pre-bond inspection checklist and photo documentation for every hull before the deck goes on.
• Read and work from build specifications, wiring diagrams, plumbing schematics, and option sheets.
• Flag design or fit problems to engineering and production leads before they get sealed in.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area in compliance with shop safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Experience in boat building, marine rigging, marine service, or a related plumbing/electrical trade. Marine manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of 12V DC marine electrical systems, including wire sizing, circuit protection, grounding, and bonding.
• Hands-on ability with marine plumbing, thru-hull installation, sealants and bedding compounds, and hose routing.
• Familiarity with ABYC standards — particularly E-11 (AC and DC electrical systems) and the standards governing fuel systems and thru-hull fittings — and USCG requirements under 33 CFR 183. ABYC certification is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, plumbing schematics, and build specifications.
• Proficient with hand and power tools, including drills, hole saws, crimpers, heat guns, and multimeters.
• Able to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces such as bilges and consoles, kneel, reach overhead, and work on staging.
• Detail-driven and self-checking — you verify your own work before it gets covered up.
• Reliable attendance and clear communication with lamination, finishing, and rigging teams.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
