Job summary

CTL Engineering, Inc. is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway and bridge projects in Northeast Ohio. The positions involve construction administration, inspection, testing, and collaboration with municipal agencies.

Ideal candidates have ODOT structures inspection experience, strong QA/QC skills, and ability to read blueprints and project documents. Travel within the greater Cleveland area is expected.

Qualifications

• ODOT prequalified Structures Inspector is preferred.
• Experience in construction inspection on ODOT-funded projects.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and inspection/testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
• Read project drawings and blueprints and work on a variety of construction projects.
• Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
• Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Conduct quality control testing at project sites (concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, reinforcing steel).

CTL Engineering is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway/bridge projects, initially the large I-90 project in Cuyahoga county.

We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection , accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for ODOT prequalified Inspectors (structures) who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for ODOT bridge and roadway projects in Northeast Ohio. You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection/testing and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.

Highlights

• This position works independently on broad projects under direction of a Dept. Manager.
• Projects are typically in the greater Cleveland/northeast Ohio region. Frequent travel within this region is expected.
• Mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use (or a company vehicle may be provided, based on the assignment).

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
• Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
• Experience with materials and lab testing.
• Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
• Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
• Understanding of construction or engineering services.
• Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
• Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
• Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
• Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments.
• Must be able to interact well with others.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
• Ability to provide status updates independently.
• Be quality-minded and client-focused.

Minimum Qualifications

• ODOT prequalified Structures Inspector is required
• Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
