CTL Engineering, Inc. is hiring Inspectors for Construction Services to support ODOT transportation projects.

The role focuses on field inspection, testing, and construction administration across roadway and bridge projects, with some work in water/wastewater and municipal sectors. You will work with a cross-functional team, travel frequently within northern Ohio, and may receive a stipend or company vehicle depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management required.
• Technical school or community college diploma acceptable.
• Associate degree with 2+ years related work experience preferred.
• 2+ years of related field experience in highway/construction testing.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.

• Provide inspection and testing services for state, county, local projects.
• Inspect for contractor compliance with plans and proposals.
• Verify quantities and calculations aligned with bid plans.

CTL Engineering is hiring Inspectors | Construction Services for ODOT (transportation) projects! CTL Engineering ( www.ctleng.com ) is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (98) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for Inspectors | Construction Services who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for state (ODOT), county, and local Clients. You’ll be involved in the testing and inspection aspects of wide variety of construction projects including those primarily in the roadway/bridge arena (but may also include water/wastewater, aviation, commercial, and municipal utility/infrastructure sectors). You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
• Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
• Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
• Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
• Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Possibly conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects.
• Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
• Notify the Project Engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong plus if you have completed the ODOT Certified Technician program…. OR…
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Technical school or Community college graduate.
  • Preferred: Associate Degree with 2+ years of additional related work experience.
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.
• Previous experience working for a testing company.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.
• Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections and/or CWI/NDT inspectors.
• Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
