Job summary

CTL Engineering is seeking ODOT-prequalified inspectors in the Cleveland area to monitor quality, read blueprints, and perform asphalt testing on roadway and bridge projects. The role supports state and local projects with strong emphasis on quality control and documentation.

Ideal candidates will have asphalt inspection experience, be able to work night shifts, and possess valid credentials. Mileage reimbursement is provided, and a company vehicle may be available based on assignment.

Qualifications

• ODOT funded project inspection experience required.
• Extensive asphalt inspection/testing experience required.
• Ability to work frequent night shifts.
• ODOT Asphalt Inspector II preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
• Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
• Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
• Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
• Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Conduct asphalt quality control testing at project sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

CTL Engineering is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway/bridge projects, initially the large I-90 project in Cuyahoga county.

We are looking for ODOT prequalified Inspectors (asphalt) who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for ODOT bridge and roadway projects in Northeast Ohio. Highlights:

• This position works independently on broad projects under direction of a Dept. Manager.
• Projects are typically in the greater Cleveland/northeast Ohio region. Frequent travel within this region is expected.
• This role will require frequent night shift work.

• Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
• Understanding of construction or engineering services.
• Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
• Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
• Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
• Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments.
• Must be able to interact well with others.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
• Ability to provide status updates independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
• Extensive experience with asphalt inspection/testing, adhering to specs is required.
• Ability to work frequent night shifts.
• ODOT prequalified Asphalt Inspector II is preferred but not required.
• Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
