The State of Ohio Transportation - District 04 is seeking a skilled automotive technician in Akron, OH. You will perform preventive maintenance and routine service on cars, trucks, and equipment, ensuring reliability and safety.

A valid CDL and prior automotive repair experience are required for this full-time position. Compensation starts at $25.61 per hour, with a permanent, full-time schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Qualifications

• 24 mos. exp. in automotive repair & maintenance of variety of vehicles &/or all types of equipment identified by agency.
• Or 12 months as ODOT Mechanic Trainee, 52151 valid commercial driver's license if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above, except for mandated licensure.

Additional Information

This position is overtime eligible based onFLSA Standards.

All bargaining unit new hires must serve aone (1) year probationary period.

Position will be filled pursuant to theprovision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment. This position is also subject to federal testing regulations pursuant to 49 CFR Part 40 (Federal Drug and Alcohol Regulations) and 49 CFR Part 382 (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) which prohibits the use of marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.
