Job summary

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced OD Grinder for an aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County, Michigan. This DIRECT HIRE role is on the 2nd shift, with a typical 50–55 hour workweek and a pay rate of $28–$32 per hour.

You will read blueprints, set up CNC OD/ID grinding on a Studer machine, and maintain tight tolerances as you inspect gears and spline shafts with precision tools. Candidates should have GD&T knowledge and experience with FANUC controls, micrometers, calipers, and

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and GD&T.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools.
• Experience with Studer OD grinders and tight aerospace tolerances.
• Ability to interpret prints and maintain print specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
• Set up and operate CNC OD/ID grinding on Studer machines.
• Make adjustments to maintain print tolerances.
• Grind spline shafts and aircraft gears within tight tolerances (0.0001"-0.0005").
• Maintain SPC data and participate in operator program.
• Inspect using micrometers, gauges, and amps.
• Perform in-process and final inspections with calipers and comparators.
• Perform operator maintenance.
• Take required measurements to ensure quality.
• Notify Leader of nonconforming product.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Our aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County has an immediate opening for an OD Grinder. This is a DIRECT HIRE role, 2nd shift working 50-55 hours/week, $28-32/hour

OD Grinder Responsibilities:

• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications
• Set up and and operate CNC OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision on a Studer grinding machine.
• Make adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
• Grind of spline shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances of .0001" - .0005"
• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in certified operator program.
• Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps
• Perform in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges.
• Perform operator maintenance.
• Perform the required measurements to assure product quality
• Notify your Leader of all nonconforming product
• Other duties as assigned

OD Grinder Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Working knowledge of Inspection Devices and Instruments
• Ability to translate prints along with understanding of GD&T
• Experience using Studer OD Grinder, FANUC controls using G code, preferably in an aerospace/defense manufacturer or other industry requiring extremely tight tolerances
• Experience with Cylindrical grinding machines
• Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of precision measuring tools are required.
• Ability to utilize visual comparator and Precision Gear Check Equipment
