Job summary

Iowa Lions Eye Bank is seeking dependable Recovery Technicians for hands-on clinical work in the surgical recovery of ocular tissue for transplant, research, and education. Based out of Altoona, you will travel across Western Iowa to hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiner offices.

Responsibilities include donor verification, preparation, aseptic recovery, documentation, and 24/7 on-call coverage. A background check is required; compensation includes on-call, training, and regular pay

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently
• Clear communication
• Manual dexterity
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of paging

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on clinical work involving surgical recovery of ocular tissue for transplant, research, and education
• Verify authorization and donor identity; complete donor physical assessments
• Prepare donor and obtain blood samples; perform enucleation or corneal excision with aseptic technique
• Package tissue for transport and complete required documentation
• Respond to on-call shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage
