Job summary

Dakota Lions Sight & Health seeks a per diem Eye and Tissue Recovery Technician to recover human eyes and tissue for transplant or research, document procedures, and ship tissue with professionalism and respect.

This role requires on-call travel across the recovery area, including day, night, weekend, and holiday hours. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable; Hepatitis and Covid vaccines are recommended. On-site work environment with routine hospital and donation settings involved.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Surgical technician, ophthalmic technician, medical or funeral home background preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs efficient and quality surgical recovery of human eyes and tissue for transplant and/or research, including drawing blood samples for serological testing.
• Acts professionally and respectfully as a representative of donors and donor families in hospital, funeral home and donation settings.
• Maintains confidentiality of all DLSH information.
• Travels throughout respective recovery area to perform recovery of donor tissue; on-call schedule includes day, night, weekend, and holidays.
