Job summary

Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) seeks an attorney with 2–5 years of experience to join the Ocean Conservation team in Boston, MA (preferred) or other regional offices. The role focuses on policy development, litigation, and advocacy to protect marine ecosystems in New England, with regional and national travel.

The term-limited position runs 2.5 years to grow talent in ocean law and policy and build influential relationships across organizations to advance CLF’s conservation priorities.

Qualifications

• A law degree and active bar membership in good standing.
• At least 2 years of relevant ocean law and policy experience.
• Passion for environment, public health, and/or social justice.
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to take initiative and manage multiple activities.
• Commitment to teamwork and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Devise and execute legal/policy strategies for CLF’s advocacy goals.
• Represent CLF in litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Comment on administrative rules, state and federal permits, and other agency actions.
• Advise community and advocacy groups on legal matters.
• Coordinate with partners to develop long-term ocean conservation initiatives.
• Build coalitions among stakeholders.
• Write public educational materials, articles, and communicate advocacy work through media outlets.
• Support CLF’s communications team with advocacy messaging.
• Prepare research reports, memos, and presentations.
