Job summary

Dimerco Express Group is seeking an Ocean Operations Supervisor in Rosedale, NY. You will oversee daily ocean operations, ensuring timely and accurate import/export shipments in line with client and company requirements.

The role requires 3–5 years of Global Forwarding Operations experience, strong knowledge of ocean procedures, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of Global Forwarding Operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, shipping documentation, customs procedures, and carrier coordination.
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.
• Being able to work independently and part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily Ocean Operations Execute: Daily Ocean Operations activities and ensure timely, accurate, and efficient execution of import/export shipments in accordance with company and customer requirements.
• Process & SOP Compliance: Follow established SOPs and customer-specific procedures. Identify workflow issues and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
• Cost Control: Execute operational costs, vendor charges, demurrage, detention, and other accessorial expenses. Identify discrepancies and potential cost leakage and elevate issues to management.
• Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure daily operations comply with company policies, customer requirements, SOPs, and applicable regulatory standards. Conduct regular checks to maintain operational accuracy and quality.
• Team Supervision & Training: Supervise, execute, coach, and support Ocean Operations staff. Assist with the training of new and existing employees and ensure team members maintain the knowledge and skills required to perform their responsibilities effectively.
• Customer & Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with customers, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, and internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution and timely resolution of operational issues.
• Billing & Vendor Cost Review: Ensure customer billing and vendor cost information for accuracy and completeness and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Management Support: Provide operational reports, performance updates, and recommendations to management. Support departmental initiatives and perform other assignments as directed by management.
