Job summary

Travelers in Alpharetta, GA is seeking the MD, Ocean Marine to lead underwriting teams and oversee complex risk for ocean cargo, marine liabilities, hull, and yacht coverage. You will guide agents and brokers, develop profitable strategies, and travel for meetings with partners.

The role requires 8–10 years in underwriting with commercial lines, leadership experience, and CPCU designation. Travel to client sites will be expected as part of leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Eight to ten years of underwriting experience in commercial lines.
• Experience leading or managing others.
• Prior management of a field location.
• Expert knowledge of Ocean Marine products, regulatory environment, and local market.
• Strong critical thinking with risk/financial decisions.
• Excellent communication for negotiations with agents/brokers.
• CPCU designation.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention within a location or region.
• Partner with RVP to develop and implement business strategies for profit and growth.
• Manage relationships with brokers and agencies locally.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex, at-risk, or hard-to-close deals.
• Cultivate internal and external relationships to drive sales and cross-sell opportunities.
• Meet with agents/brokers in person and travel as needed.
• Provide strategic direction and coaching for the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
