Job summary

Universal Shield Insurance Group seeks a seasoned leader to build and manage our Ocean Marine and Inland Marine offerings across the United States. You will develop underwriting guidelines, drive profitable growth, and mentor a high-performing team with support from the VP of Special Risk.

You will forge strong broker relationships, market products nationwide, and steer portfolio performance, risk selection, and profitability to align with the division’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

• 10+ years Ocean Marine underwriting experience, including leadership roles.
• Experience developing and managing an underwriting product or book of business.
• Proven experience building, managing, and developing an underwriting team.
• Proven ability to underwrite and market Ocean Marine business.
• Experience managing GWP, loss ratio, profitability, and growth objectives.
• College degree or equivalent work experience; professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, launch, and actively manage Ocean Marine and Inland Marine product offerings.
• Establish and manage GWP goals and strategies for profitable growth.
• Manage loss ratio and underwriting profitability to meet objectives.
• Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, appetite, pricing strategy, and product standards.
• Underwrite new and renewal Ocean Marine and Inland Marine business.
• Build, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing underwriting team.
• Develop and maintain broker relationships across the United States.
• Market Ocean Marine and Inland Marine products to brokers nationwide.
• Pursue new account opportunities while retaining renewal business.
• Monitor portfolio performance, market conditions, and emerging risks; adjust strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with VP of Special Risk and internal stakeholders for growth.
