Job summary

Universal Shield Insurance Group seeks a Senior Ocean Marine Underwriting Leader to build and manage USIG's Ocean Marine and Inland Marine product lines across the United States. You will develop underwriting guidelines, drive profitability, and lead a high-performing team with the Vice President of Special Risk.

The role emphasizes broker relationships, pricing strategy, portfolio stewardship, and strategic planning to support short- and long-term growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years Ocean Marine underwriting experience, including leadership.
• Strong ability to develop and manage product lines.
• Proven success in broker relationships and distribution.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of underwriting teams.
• Bachelor's degree or higher; professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, launch, and manage Ocean Marine and Inland Marine offerings.
• Establish GWP goals and profitable growth strategies.
• Oversee underwriting profitability and loss ratios.
• Develop guidelines, pricing strategies, and product standards.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing underwriting team.
• Foster broker relationships nationwide and market products.
• Pursue new accounts while retaining renewals and managing portfolio risk.
• Monitor performance and adjust strategies as market conditions shift.
• Collaborate with VP of Special Risk on strategic plans.
