Job summary

AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, seeks an Underwriter II for marine business. You will underwrite within authority, forecast, monitor exposure and premiums, and liaise with brokers and clients to support risk transfer and cross-selling. Report to the Underwriting Manager, Ocean Marine.

The role emphasizes profitability and strong client service in a global insurer. With a background in marine insurance, you’ll analyze risk, structure reinsurance, and contribute to planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent).
• Some to moderate marine insurance experience.
• Robust industry knowledge and commercial acumen.
• Analytical, negotiation and sales/marketing capabilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication with strong customer focus.
• Interpersonal savvy with brokers and insureds.
• Ability to develop business processes and planning.
• Collaborative team player providing creative resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions and research risk for each account.
• Calculate risk premium considering costs and reinsurance.
• Advise and service clients on insurance and risk management.
• Manage relationships with insureds and brokers for cross-selling.
• Ensure timely implementation of new and renewed accounts.
• Determine reinsurance placements (excess of loss and quota share).
• Review loss control reports and process endorsements.
• Support budgeting and forecasting and monitor exposure and premiums.
• Monitor claims and contribute to settlements.
