Job summary

Actus Consulting Group is seeking an Ocean Import Operation Staff in Torrance, CA to manage international shipments via air and ocean, ensure timely documentation, and coordinate with carriers, brokers and importers.

This on-site role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and knowledge of U.S. customs processes. The position offers full-time hours, a competitive hourly wage of $22–$27, and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO and retirement.

Qualifications

• Business-level English reading, writing, speaking and arithmetic skills required.
• An associate degree is preferred but not required.
• Ability to organize, prepare and assemble data-containing documents.
• Knowledge of standard office processes and technology.
• Understanding of U.S. Customs Tariff, FDA, USDA filing requirements.
• Knowledge of air and ocean import freight release procedures.
• Proficiency with ABI systems.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls and route issues to correct individuals.
• Communicate with carriers, overseas agents, and customers by phone and email.
• Input duty amounts in CargoWise for brokerage files.
• Input pier pass amounts in CargoWise for brokerage files.
• Input freight rates in CargoWise for brokerage files.
• Prepare and dispatch check requests for overnighting to steamship lines.
• Assemble and file documents for billing.
• Attach billed packets and deliver to accounting.
• Receive visitors and couriers at the front lobby.
• Assist in filing ISFs and monitor ISFs.
• Verify billing information for surety and forward to accounting.
• Prepare daily statements and CBP-related documents.
• Track and trace delivery orders and update PODs.
• Pay PierPass fees through TMF website.
• Input ISO information as needed.
• Visit CBP and other agencies, airlines and freight forwarders as required.
• Distribute import cargo and ensure timely pickup from the warehouse.
• File documents, prepare storage boxes and move to the warehouse when needed.
• Provide shipment status updates to customers and brokers.
• Coordinate with co-loaders and steamship lines for arrival information.
• Ensure timely conveyance of arrival information to involved parties.
• Collect OBLs and charges from importers/brokers when necessary.
• Support accounts payable with payment processing and checks.
• Proactively notify customers of delays and additional billing needs.
• Review SOPs to ensure compliance.
• Open entries within 24 hours and support entry writers.
• Create client billing and support accounting processes.
• Contribute to profit growth through service quality and appropriate markups.
• Monitor KPIs and develop performance insights.
• Provide backup support when staff is absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
