This position is for an Ocean Export Coordinator who will oversee the entire logistics process for international ocean shipments. This role is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, managing required documentation, and ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met. The individual will serve as the main point of contact for customers, shipping carriers, and other stakeholders, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of shipments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire export process, including booking space with ocean carriers, scheduling shipments, and managing the flow of goods from the origin port to the destination port.
  • Liaise with vendors, clients, and shipping carriers to ensure smooth pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Prepare essential export documents, such as Bills of Lading, Packing Lists, Commercial Invoices, and Certificates of Origin.
  • Ensure that all shipments comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and carrier policies.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns related to shipment progress.
  • Handle and resolve any issues, such as delays or damage to goods, to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Work with customs brokers to ensure shipments adhere to both import and export regulations.
  • Stay informed on changes in trade laws, tariffs, and shipping regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Continuously track the progress of shipments and provide clients with real-time updates.
  • Address any discrepancies or delays and maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
  • Proactively resolve any issues encountered during shipping, such as delays, missing paperwork, or damaged goods.
  • Ensure effective communication and quick resolution to maintain customer’s trust.
  • Work closely with internal teams (sales, operations) and external partners (vendors, shippers, carriers) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including shipping lines and truckers.

Qualifications:

  • BA or Associated degree preferred
  • Ocean Logistics with a minimum 2 years in global trade industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team setting
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills, both verbally and written
