Job summary

Expeditors in Salt Lake City is seeking an Ocean Export Lead Agent to ensure timely freight movement and accurate data entry, while delivering exceptional customer service in the Ocean Export Department.

The role supports tracking, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Ideal for someone with 6 months to 1 year of related experience, strong communication, and a willingness to grow within a Fortune 500 logistics leader.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Understanding of ocean documentation process is a plus
• Effective interpersonal skills, including listening, comprehension, and clear communication
• Pro-active, strong organizational skills
• Hazardous Materials certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information within the Ocean Export Department.
• Enter data accurately into the operational system and maintain records.
• Track and Trace Ocean Export Files and generate reports.
• Meet regulatory compliance requirements with internal and external standards.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date customer SOPs in the DLSOPs.
• Provide timely email and internal/external communications; escalate to management when needed.

Job Description

Scope of Position

Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Ocean Export Department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system
• Track and Trace Ocean Export Files and reporting
• Meet compliance at all times to regulations internal and external in accordance with government regulations
• Understand department process flow, and looking for best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity
• Ensure all customers standard operating procedures in place and updated in the DLSOPs
• Overseas communications, timely responses to emails and requests (internal and external)
• Escalation of problems to Management when necessary

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Understanding of ocean documentation process a plus
• Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
• Pro-active, strong organizational skills
• Hazardous Materials certification (preferred)
