Qualifications

• Must hold Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) in good standing
• BLS certification within 30 days
• Attend and satisfactorily complete continuing education regarding care of acute stroke patients

Responsibilities

• Follows the therapist's plan of care and adjusts treatment based on patient response and documentation after communicating with evaluating therapist.
• Implements intervention plans that are patient-centered and occupation-based, adapting as needed to patient response and environment.
• Collaborates with patient, family, and significant others throughout the occupational therapy process.
• Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using effective teaching methods.
• Coordinates with supervising therapist and seeks direction as needed (OTR).
• Produces clear, objective documentation to support decisions and payer needs.
• Participates in quality improvement activities related to service delivery.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, colleagues, service providers, and the public; acts as a resource for conflict resolution.
• Complies with program requirements and completes annual education as assigned.
