Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates degree required in Occupational Therapy Assistant field.
• BLS certification required within 6 months or per department decision.
• Must hold OT assistant license for Wisconsin.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work as part of a health care team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating patients' physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities and their impact on activities of daily living.
• Implement treatment plans to retrain and teach compensatory techniques for residual disability and train in adapted work methods, while monitoring patient response.
• Contribute to discharge planning by providing home programs and patient/family teaching, and by ordering equipment under supervision.
• Complete patient documentation and billing records with appropriate signatures and reports.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle patient positioning, transfers, and transport using proper techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of modalities and exercise equipment and apply indications/contraindications as directed.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and assist with coverage as needed.

Education

Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant

BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA)

Occupational Therapy Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin
