Job description

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant (PRN) at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, you will assist with patient-centered occupational therapy services, coordinate treatment plans, document patient progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately follow the established treatment plan to set measurable and achievable goals for maximum functional independence in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs).
  • Accurately record and document patient care and changes in condition.
  • Record, monitor, and review clinical data; provide feedback to the Occupational Therapist regarding possible modifications to the treatment plan and goals based on patient performance.
  • Adapt recognized therapeutic techniques and modalities within the scope of practice and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Collaborate with patient service departments and community agencies to coordinate and conduct educational outreach programs, monitor responses, and adjust programs as needed.
  • Support hospital initiatives to meet core measures, patient safety, and service excellence goals.
  • Participate in rounding and proactively respond to patient needs to improve outcomes and patient experience.
  • Contribute to a culture of patient-centered care and maintain a quiet healing environment.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and team members in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Provide clear explanations of care to patients and families, ensuring they are informed of patient status as appropriate.
  • Maintain proactive and effective communication with physicians regarding patient observations, treatment responses, and changes in condition.
  • Use the interdisciplinary team approach to patient care; collaborate, confer, and update team members regarding patient progress, treatment, and discharge planning.
Qualifications
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
  • Associate Degree
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS instructor certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
