Overview

Occupational Therapy Assistant, OTA - Home Health at Interim Healthcare Mid-Atlantic. This role is currently for Per-Diem with potential to transition to part-time or full-time. Location: Reading, PA / Berks County.

Base pay range
$35.00/visit

Responsibilities
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary assessment of the patient.
  • Act under the direction and supervision of the treating occupational therapist and in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of the plan of care in partnership with the patient, representative (if any), and caregiver(s).
  • Provide services ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care.
  • Assist the treating occupational therapist in documenting the patient’s progress and response to treatment.
  • Teach task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical function and sensory-integrative function.
  • Teach compensatory techniques to improve independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Complete and submit timely, legible, accurate clinical documentation addressing treatment, patient response, and progress toward goals in accordance with standards and policies.
  • Counsel and educate the patient and family and other caregivers to promote patient progress toward mutual goals.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote care coordination and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate with physicians and other health care practitioners related to the current plan of care.
  • Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs and in-services or training as requested.
  • Participate in the Office’s Emergency Preparedness program as requested.
  • Complete other assignments as requested and assigned.
  • Access and handle patient information in compliance with privacy policies and regulations.
Licensure, Education & Experience
  • Current licensure as an occupational therapy assistant in the state(s) where practice is performed, or applicable regulation.
  • Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy assistant program and eligible to take or have completed the NBCOT certification examination.
  • In the last five (5) years, two (2) years of relevant experience as an OTA is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Provide proof of current CPR certification as required by policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of staff and patients.
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions related to patient care and equipment.
  • Ability to observe and assess patient status visually and auditorily.
  • Ability to adapt to changes based on patient needs and scheduling.
  • Ability to provide proof of valid driver’s license, if applicable.
  • Ability to provide proof of valid auto liability insurance if driving to assignments.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
  • Frequent travel within geographic area served by the office.
  • Meet health requirements to provide patient care as required by law or regulation.
  • Work is typically performed in residences, facilities, schools, or occupational settings.
  • Occasional exposure to infectious materials with appropriate safety precautions.
  • Flexible schedule and/or evening hours as needed.
  • Ability to lift, reposition, and transfer patients, and to perform related physical tasks (may involve lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. or more).
