Job summary

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano is opening a brand-new, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility in 2026 as part of Lifepoint Health. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who can deliver compassionate care to adult and geriatric patients in a setting built for safety and high-quality outcomes.

You will join a team focused on evidence-based, transformative rehabilitation across a broad range of concerns. The role emphasizes thorough assessments, goal-oriented interventions, and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Previous experience in occupational therapy is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care under supervision of the OT leadership and Rehab team.
  • Assess patient needs and plan/ initiate appropriate OT interventions.
  • Observe, evaluate progress toward goals and communicate changes to physicians as needed.
  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments with accurate documentation and scoring.
  • Contribute to a safe care environment and participate in interdisciplinary team conferences.

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano is a brand-new 40 bed inpatient rehabilitation facility opening in 2026. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence‑based, transformational care for a broad range of rehabilitation concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.

How you'll contribute

An Occupational Therapist who excels in this role:

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability as indicated for the care of those patients being treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians and occupational therapy students. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual as qualified to do so.

  • Assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.

  • Observes and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals. Recommends change to physician, if needed.

  • Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services.

  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

  • Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in each patient team conference.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
  • Experience: Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
  • Additional Requirements: Current CPR/BLS certification.
