Job summary

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano, part of Lifepoint Health, is opening a brand-new hospital in 2026. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the team on a PRN basis.

You will provide evidence-based rehabilitation services to adults and geriatric patients within a coordinated care model and contribute to a compassionate, high-quality environment. Applicants must hold state licensure as an Occupational Therapist and CPR/BLS certification; prior OT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
• Experience: Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
• Additional Requirements: Current CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients by OT staff and students.
• Assesses patients' needs; initiates appropriate OT interventions; works with the patient care team.
• Observes and evaluates treatment progress; communicates with physician as needed.
• Performs assessments and reassessments; maintains QI scoring; patient population includes adults and geriatrics.
• Assesses pain and implements interventions; notifies physician as needed.
• Delivers patient care in a safety-focused environment; reports progress during team conferences.
• Other duties as assigned.

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano is a brand-new 40 bed inpatient rehabilitation facility opening in 2026. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence-based, transformational care for a broad range of rehabilitation concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.

How You'll Contribute

An Occupational Therapist who excels in this role:

• Assumes responsibility and accountability as indicated for the care of those patients being treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians and occupational therapy students. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual as qualified to do so.


• Assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.


• Observes and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals. Recommends change to physician, if needed.


• Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services.


• Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.


• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.


• Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in each patient team conference.


• Other duties as assigned.
