Job summary

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano, a brand-new inpatient rehabilitation facility opening in 2026, is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will assess patients, plan interventions, and collaborate with therapists, technicians, and physicians to deliver evidence-based care.

This on-site, part-time role requires current OT licensure in the state, CPR/BLS certification, and a willingness to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment as we launch a new facility with advanced

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; works with the care team to maintain professional standards.
• Observes and evaluates treatment progress; recommends changes to the physician as needed.
• Performs assessments and reassessments; ensures accurate and timely QI scoring; adult and geriatric population.
• Assesses pain that interferes with function and collaborates on interventions; notifies physician when intervention is needed.
• Delivers care in a setting that prioritizes patient safety and reduces care errors.
• Reports patient progress and discharge barriers at team conferences; performs other duties as assigned.

Texas Rehabilitation of Plano is a brand-new 40 bed inpatient rehabilitation facility opening in 2026. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence-based, transformational care for a broad range of rehabilitation concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.

How you'll contribute

An Occupational Therapist who excels in this role:

• Assumes responsibility and accountability as indicated for the care of those patients being treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians and occupational therapy students. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual as qualified to do so.
• Assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Observes and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
• Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services.
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in each patient team conference.
• Other duties as assigned.
