Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• State license to practice based on facility location – upon hire – required.
• CPR certification – upon hire – required.
• Experience in evaluating and developing OT treatment plans is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervise COTAs and technicians and provide supervisory visits as per state regulations.
• Maintain monthly department budget for equipment and supplies; ensure proper charging for services.
• Evaluate and establish treatment plans for patients referred to Occupational Therapy.
• Maintain competence in OT areas: Evaluation, Therapeutic Exercise/Activity, ADL training, Cognitive skills, wheelchair transfers, splinting, modalities.

JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in patient care and rehabilitation. They evaluate and establish treatment plans, ensuring competency in a range of areas such as therapeutic exercises, ADL training, and cognitive skills. This role also involves coordination with other healthcare professionals, adherence to regulations, and making clinical decisions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Supervisory: Delegates authority to COTAs and technicians.
• Supervisory: Provides supervisory visits according to state regulations.
• Budget: Remains within monthly budget when ordering equipment and supplies.
• Budget: Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment.
• Clinical: Maintains productivity level at department target.
• Clinical: Evaluates and establishes treatment plan for any patient referred to Occupational Therapy.
• Remains competent in the following areas: Evaluation.
• Remains competent in the following areas: Therapeutic Exercise/Activity.
• Remains competent in the following areas: ADL training.
• Remains competent in the following areas: Cognitive skills.
• Remains competent in the following areas: Wheelchair transfers.
• Remains competent in the following areas: Splinting.

• Attends and provides continuing education inservices.
• Serves as mentor for new employees.

• Regulation: Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
• Regulation: Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statutes.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy – Required

Licenses and Certifications
