Job summary

Methodist Senior Services in Columbus, Mississippi, seeks a Full-Time Occupational Therapist to join our rehabilitation team. You will evaluate residents, create individualized plans, and provide skilled OT services to improve independence and safety.

About the Role

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in helping residents maintain and regain the skills needed for everyday living. Through individualized evaluations, treatment planning, and evidence-based interventions, the Occupational Therapist works to improve function, safety, independence, and overall quality of life.

This position includes:

• Evaluating residents and developing individualized treatment plans
• Providing skilled occupational therapy services in accordance with physician orders
• Addressing deficits related to self-care, activities of daily living, mobility, and functional independence
• Collaborating closely with residents, families, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Supervising and directing Occupational Therapy Assistants as appropriate
• Supporting a culture of excellence, compassion, and resident-centered care

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods, materials and equipment used in Occupational Therapy to the patient population served by the facility. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care. Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

Working Conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
